BORDERLANDS THEATER WORKSHOP
August 14-18 from 9am to 4pm

For one powerful week, a group of young people will workshop the Borderlands pieces for the outdoor performances at Shelburne Farms in October. Together, we will create costumes, design make-up, workshop parts, build acting skills, and hold auditions for the show. Each workshop participant will get a part that both challenges and excites them.

Students will take on responsive theater, discover secrets of outdoor pageantry, develop improvisation skills, lean into physical acting, work on engaging recitation, voice projection, puppetry and song.  These young actors will be carrying on traditions that have inspired communities for centuries, as people connect with the land to honor and celebrate the bounty of beauty while challenging and inspiring the audience to be fully present.

Aly Perry is a director, performer and arts educator, known for her amazing work at Essex High School, at Vermont Young Playwrights with Vermont Stage, and for the Vermont tour of the solo show, Every Brilliant Thing. Her energy, integrity and honed insight will bring the performers and their performance to an extraordinary level.

Participation in this week is a commitment to rehearsals and performances in September and October.
