After a day on the Great Blasket Island, sketching and working with watercolors, we went to the home of Marie Simonds-Gooding, a world known artist who happens to live across the street from our hostel, in a house that was brought over from Great Blasket when the family had to leave the island. Marie welcomed us into her tiny living room with the original roof and beams, and everyone set to painting and drawing. When the paintings were done, Marie and her artist companion did a critique of each piece of art, appreciating all the fresh visions. It was powerfully inspirational.
